Registration Procedure

Registration for medical assistants is optional. Employers tend to favor medical assistant who have been registered which includes a national organization as it guarantees a certain standard of competency and employers are always seeking for MAs with some registration. The main organization for registration is the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA). Certification is achieved by going through the CMA Certification Examination offered by the AAMA Certifying Board in consultation with the National Board of Medical Examiners. It is available to those who have passed a training program accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) or the Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES) and once you are registered then you can apply for the job position.
